Mousetrapper Two-Handed Mouse – What do Our Ergonomists Think?
The Mousetrapper two-handed mouse is a non-traditional, innovative input control design that sits in front of the keyboard and is operated via a scroll pad and buttons. Although it looks much different than a traditional mouse don’t be scared off. It may just be the solution to your wrist or shoulder pain.
Dimensions: 18.9” length, 4.3” width, 0.8” height
Benefits noted by our Ergonomist:
- Because the Mousetrapper is positioned in front of the keyboard, rather than to the side, the lateral reach is eliminated
- Ambidextrous by design, allowing operation by both hands without the need to re-program or move the mouse. The benefit of alternating between left- and right-handed use reduces overloading the shoulder muscles of one side
- Similar to a touchpad, the Mousetrapper also eliminates gripping of the mouse, making it a good option for users who have discomfort with gripping a traditional mouse.
- Copy and paste function helps to reduce mouse clicks; thus repetitive work of a single finger is reduced
- Has soft memory foam palm supports to reduce contact stress
Some non-optimal features noted by our Ergonomist:
- Slight forward reach to the keyboard – especially for shorter statured users who likely have shorter lower arm lengths
- Potential for increased reaching across the body with the right arm due to offset position of scroll pad
- May take some time to adjust to; however the benefit when you are used to using it, should outweigh this
As we recommend with all non- traditional products, this input device may not work for everyone. It is always best to assess a users needs and compatibility.
